These can be a basis for space-sharing agreements when two or more people share space for some time in the context of the program. When decisions need to be made in regard to agreement details, they can be guided by the principles of the project, which broadly are:

  • Evidence Guided
  • Obsolescence
  • Self Determination Theory
  • Positive Psychology
  • Humanism
  • Sentient Being Rights
  • Anarchy Toward Harmful Social Norms

Here are some points that could form the basis of a space-sharing agreement

  • Consensus-based decision-making: Whenever possible, decisions affecting the group should be made through a consensus process, ensuring everyone has a voice and feels heard.
  • Transparent communication: Open and honest communication channels should be established to facilitate discussion and ensure everyone is informed about group matters.
  • Flexibility and adaptability:  The group should be willing to adapt its rules and structures as needed to accommodate the evolving needs and preferences of its members.
  • Respect for personal choices: Each member’s autonomy and right to make their own choices about their lifestyle, beliefs, and relationships should be respected as long as they don’t unreasonably restrict the rights or well-being of others.
  • Privacy: Each member should have a private space where they can retreat and feel comfortable being themselves.
  • Freedom of expression: Members should be encouraged to express themselves freely, without fear of judgment or censorship.
  • Shared responsibility: Members should actively participate in the maintenance and upkeep of the group and shared space, sharing responsibilities and contributing their skills and talents.
  • Mutual support and respect: A culture of mutual support and respect should be fostered, where members feel comfortable seeking help and offering assistance to one another.
  • Conflict resolution: A clear and fair conflict resolution process should be in place to address disagreements and ensure everyone feels heard and understood.
  • Openness to different perspectives: The community should welcome and value diverse backgrounds, cultures, and lifestyles.
  • Non-discrimination: Discrimination based on race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion, or any other personal characteristic or lifestyle choice should be strictly prohibited.
  • Accessibility: The community should strive to be accessible to individuals with diverse abilities and needs.
  • Learning opportunities: The community should encourage and support members’ personal growth and development through mentoring, workshops, classes, and other learning opportunities.
  • Self-reflection: Members should be encouraged to engage in self-reflection and personal development practices to enhance their well-being and contribute positively to the group.

These model agreements are a starting point. Each group will have its unique values and needs, and these agreements should be adapted accordingly while maintaining the principles of the project.
